CARIBOU – Chester McGraw Sr., 73, died Feb. 16, 2005, at his Caribou residence. He was born Jan. 26, 1932, in Caribou, the son of Steven and Hazel (Drost) McGraw. Mr. McGraw was employed by several area potato growers, most recently, Kelley Farms. He was a member and served as deacon of the Carson Pentecostal Country Church. He married Jennie (Crouse) McGraw June 3, 1958. Surviving, in addition to his wife of more than 46 years, Jennie, of Caribou; are three sons, David McGraw and his fianc?e, Lynn Cray, Chester McGraw Jr. and his friend, Lori Ouellette and Timothy McGraw, all of Caribou; one daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Dean Dow of Presque Isle; his brothers, Henry of Skowhegan, George of Caribou, Donald of Pennsylvania, Bill Turner of Florida, Irvine Patten Jr. of Connecticut and Charles Patten of Virginia; sisters, Betty Ryan of Michigan, Gloria Woolfenden of Virginia, Edna Delease of Florida, Erma Reynolds of Bangor, Shirley Thompson and Mary Spellman, both of Connecticut; 10 grandchildren including a special grandson, Chester McGraw III and Stephanie Kelley Bird, who was like a daughter to him, even though she was his first-born grandchild; 11 great-grandchildren including a special great-grandson, Jacob Dow; a special family friend, Matthew Haney of Caribou; several cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Gordon; and a sister, Lettie Moody. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Friday at the Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir St., Caribou. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 19, 2005, at the Carson Pentecostal Church, with the Rev. John Palmer, officiating, assisted by the Rev. Elden Wilcox. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
