APPLETON, Wis. and BANGOR – Christine McEwen Hillman died Sept. 30, 2004, at Cherry Meadows Hospice in Appleton, Wis. Christine had been a resident of Appleton for several years. She was born July 8, 1914 in Bangor, daughter of Dennis and Grace (Lintott) Curran. She was the wife of the late Fredrick T. McEwen and Earl Hillman. Christine graduated from Regis College, in Weston, Mass. and did post graduate work at the University of Maine and Columbia University. She was a special education teacher in the Orono and Bangor school systems. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, F. Thomas and Maureen McEwen of Alfred, and John and Peg McEwen of Appleton, Wis.; two granddaughters, six grandsons, and one great-grandson; a stepson, John Hillman of Cape Fair, Mo.; sister-in-law, Nancy Curran of Bangor; and three special cousins also survive her. A brother, Dr. Edward L. Curran; and her son, Michael E. McEwen predeceased her. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Monday, at the Greenlawn Memorial Funeral Home, 300 State St., Bangor. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Bangor. Interment will follow in the family lot, Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
