BANGOR – Christopher Aldrich Carlisle, 35, died July 1, 2004, at a local hospital after a brief illness. He was born March 1, 1969, in Boston, Mass., the beloved first son of David and Susan Carlisle. Chris attended Bangor schools and graduated from Bangor High School in 1987. He attended Bowdoin College and studied electrical engineering at the University of Maine. He was a member of the Bangor High School Swim Team and was the State Class A champion in the 100-yard backstroke in his junior year. His love of swimming continued after high school. He coached the Bangor High School girls team and the YMCA Barracudas and was a friend and mentor to many area swimmers. Chris was a voracious reader and a computer whiz. He enjoyed games and puzzles. He was intelligent, kind, funny, witty and loyal to his friends and family. He will be greatly missed. In addition to his parents, Chris is survived by three brothers, Jonathan M. Carlisle and his wife, Leigh, of Brookline, Mass., Benjamin D. Carlisle of Newton, Mass., and Nicholas S. Carlisle of Cambridge, Mass.; grandfather, George D. Carlisle, and Barbara Giddings of Bangor; aunts, Caroline Aldrich-Langen and her husband, George, of Chico, Calif., and Mary Carlisle Schultheis of Bangor; uncle, Thomas P. Aldrich of Alna and his wife, Carolyn; cousins, Zachary N. Aldrich of Montana, Kate K. Aldrich of Italy, Schuyler L. Aldrich of Portland, Lisa M. Aldrich of Boston, Mass., Robert B. Schultheis and his wife, Jaime, of New Bedford, Mass., and Elizabeth A. Schultheis of Boston, Mass.; a great-uncle, Fred A. Franklin of Cambridge, Mass.; and a special friend, Tanya Torrance of Bangor. Friends are invited to visit with the family 5-8 p.m. Monday, July 5, 2004, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 6, at All Souls Congregational Church, 10 Broadway, Bangor, with the Rev. Dr. James L. Haddix, pastor and teacher, officiating.
