BUCKSPORT and CONNECTICUT – Clara I. Wight, the Matriarch of our family, died April 7, 2005 at Ross Manor. She was born July 14, 1911, in Penobscot, the daughter of Charlie and Frankie Heath. She lived in Wallingford and Meriden, Conn. for many years before returning to the town of Bucksport where she started her married life. She had a heart as large as the whole outdoors, a true caretaker, always thinking of others. To know her was to love her, that’s for sure. In her younger days she’d walk into a room and the party was on, she was so much fun. She enjoyed the Bucksport Senior Center, playing cards and bingo, socializing with her friends. Thanks to Myrtle Pendleton for her kindness toward her. Many thanks to Dr. Beth-Ann Lieberman and John Chasse for taking such good care of her while she was still in her home. To everyone at Ross Manor, Sara, Robin, John, Lornie, Charly, Mary, Deanne, Kathy Sue, Laurie, Vanessa, Tonya and Betty for your caring ways, you always made her feel special. To Sally Schaible for her many acts of kindness. She is survived by one sister, Thelma Towle of Smith Falls, Canada; a very special niece, Estelle Bowden, who always shared a special part of her heart, and husband, Eugene Bowden of Bangor; three grandsons, John A. Wight, who rarely missed a day in calling her, and wife, Brenda of Westwood, Mass., Ronald Wight of Westbrook, Conn., Gary Wight of Colchester, Conn.; one granddaughter, Katie Landosph and husband, Joseph, of Pennsylvania; three great-grandchildren, Alex and Ashley Wight, and Corben Landosph; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Charles and Frankie Heath; two sisters, Goldie Lydick and Vivian Carter; two brothers, Willard and Lawrence Heath. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, at the Mitchell-Tweedie Funeral Home, 28 Elm St., Bucksport, with the Rev. Linda Smith officiating. Those who wish may donate in her memory to the Children’s Miracle Network, care of Spinabifida Research, Eastern Maine Charities, PO Box 404, Bangor, ME 04402-0404. Interment will be in Castine Cemetery, Castine.
