SURRY – Clare Ann Brooks, 67, passed away June 6, 2004, at the Maine Coast Memorial Hospital, Ellsworth. She was born Nov. 3, 1936, in Philadelphia, Pa., the daughter of the late Herman and Clare Vielhauer. Clare will be eternally missed by her devoted husband, Harry E. Brooks Jr.; three sons, Harry and his wife, Paula, of Connecticut, Robert and his wife, Debbie, of Connecticut, William and his wife, Robbin, of Colorado; eight adoring grandchildren, Tiffany, Ashley, Chelsey, Christina, Baillie, Bobby, Katrina and Billy; one brother, John Vielhauer and his wife, Mary Jane, of Pennsylvania. Clare and Harry were married June 2, 1956, in Somerton, Pa. Clare was a graduate of Nazareth Academy, Philadelphia, Class of 1954. They lived in Pennsylvania, Cailfornia, and Connecticut, before retiring to Maine in 1995, captivated by the beauty of the Maine coast and warm neighbors. Clare, a devoted wife, mother and loving grandmother was unprecedented in culinary expertise and her love for football. She was a true mentor for her daughter-in-laws. Clare will be sorrowfully missed by all. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 9, 2004, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 231 Main St., Ellsworth, with Father Lou Phillips officiating. At Clare’s request, gifts in her memory may be made to the American Heart Association, New England Affiliate, Inc., 20 Speen St. Framingham, MA 01701-4688 or a charity of one’s choice. Arrangements under the care of Jordan-Fernald Funeral Home, 113 Franklin St., Ellsworth.
