CAMDEN – Claribel A. (Leach) Thomas, 80, died Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2005. She was born Aug. 9, 1924, in Rockland, the daughter of Ashley and Eva (Closson) Leach. She was a 1943 graduate of Camden High School. She married Howard H. Thomas in Camden on June 10, 1946. Surviving is her husband of 58 years, Howard H. Thomas of Camden; two daughters, Sharon Sallinen and her husband, Richard, of Rockport, Patricia Dean and her husband, Scott, of Augusta; three brothers, Melvin Leach of Ellsworth, Edwin Leach of Long Beach, Calif., Bruce Leach of Bowdoinham; four sisters, Elizabeth Beveridge of Camden, Jeannette Anderson of Cushing, Avis Achorn and her husband, George, of Chepachet, R.I., and Carol Gilbert and her husband, Wallace, of Waterford; five grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held 2:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 28, 2005, at the John Street United Methodist Church, 98 John Street, Camden. Memorial contributions may be made to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, 87 Elm Street, Camden, ME 04843. Arrangements are with the Laite Funeral Home, Camden.
