BUCKSPORT and DOVER-FOXCROFT – Cleo Elizabeth (Thompson) Hill, 90, died Dec. 16, 2006, at a Bangor nursing facility. She was born April 25, 1916, in Dover-Foxcroft, daughter of John L. and Hazel E. (Moore) Thompson. She graduated from Foxcroft Academy, Class of 1933, where she played basketball and tennis. She was a former member of the Dover-Foxcroft Congregational Church and the Junior Cosmopolitan Club. She moved to Bucksport in 1965 and worked at the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife Fish Hatchery, East Orland, retiring in 1983. Cleo loved cooking, reading, making wreaths, and watching Laurence Welk. She is survived by four children, Barry T. Esler and his wife, Betty, of Florida, Deborah E. (Hill) Gray and her husband, Arthur, of Orland, Kathy B. (Hill) Ames and her husband, Russell, of Verona Island and Norman M. Hill of Bar Harbor and Bowerbank; four grandchildren, Jason Esler, Lori Esler, Stacia Mason Fredericks, Brett Proctor; foster grandson, Eddie Chambers; five great-grandchildren, Heather Thomas, Sierra Cyr, Shawn Esler, Christina Wing and Mason Fredericks; and special longtime friend, Raymond “Cy” Young of Charlestown, R.I. Cleo was predeceased by her husband, Norman M. Hill Sr.; foster granddaughter, Judy Chambers; grandson, Adam Thomas; special cousin, Ronald Moore; and her beloved canine companion, Lady. A funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 20, at the Mitchell-Tweedie Funeral Home, 28 Elm St., Bucksport, with Pastor Peter Remick officiating. Visitation will be 9 a.m. Wednesday until time of service. Interment will be at Dover Cemetery.
