MADAWASKA – Clifford Dionne, 85, died Aug. 27, 2005, peacefully at his residence in Madawaska. He was born April 3, 1920, in St. David, the son of Fred and Julie (Pelletier) Dionne. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran and earned the Bronze Star, Combat Infantry Badge, Purple Heart, Good Conduct Medal, Presidential Unit Citation Badge, European Theatre Campaign Medal, Silver Star and the Honorable Service Badge in recognition of his brave and honorable service to his country. Clifford was an avid fisherman, hunter and lover of the outdoors. He loved to play practical jokes and sustained his sense of humor to the very last day. He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Rose (Lagasse) Dionne of Madawaska. He is the proud and loving father of the following ten children, Joseph Dionne and his wife, Patricia (Pelletier), of Madawaska, Rachel Dionne of St. David, Jane Michaud and her husband, Bob, of St. Agatha, Gil Dionne and his wife, Patricia (Michaud), of Niantic, Conn., Roger Dionne and his wife, Diane (Dalczynski), of New Britain, Conn., Armand Dionne and his wife, Linda (Morin), of Frenchville, Nancy Lavertu and her husband, Allen, of Madawaska, Carol Voisine and her husband, Lloyd, of St. Agatha, Arlene Billerot and her husband, Thomas, of Royal Oak, Mich., Susan Williams and her husband, Gary, of Royal Oak, Mich.; 39 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; one brother, Lucien Dionne of Hebron, Conn.; five sisters, Dorilda Lagasse of East Hartford, Conn., Angela Charleton of Sun City, Ariz., Constance Gagnon of Madawaska, Simone Butler of North Hampton, N.H. Annette Dionne of Hartford, Conn. He was predeceased by three brothers, Levite, Norman and Medley and by three sisters, Bernice and twin sisters, Irene and Lucienne. Friends and relatives may call 10 a.m.-noon Wednesday and from 1 p.m. until time of services at the Daigle Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday at the St. David Church. Interment will be in the St. David Cemetery.
