FARMINGTON – Dorothy C. Clough Gudbrandsen, 98, passed away Thursday, Aug. 25, 2005, at her home. She was born Sept. 15, 1906, in Brookton to the late Edward L. and Ethel M. (Armstrong) Clough. She attended schools in Brookton and Millinocket and later moved to the Boston area for nurse’s training at Elizabeth Boothe Memorial Hospital. She was a member of the Massachusetts Registration of Nurses and worked at local hospitals and in private duty for several years. She married Haakon R. Gudbrandsen on Jan. 23, 1929, in Dorchester, Mass. They moved to Revere in 1941, and then to Farmington in 1968. Dorothy was a member of the woman’s fellowship group of Shorey Chapel in Industry, dispatched for Project Independence, was involved with Franklin County Arts & Crafts, and was a member of the Clough Genealogical Society. Her hobbies included knitting, crocheting, tatting, rug hooking, braiding and quilting. Dorothy is survived by two daughters, Dorothy L. and her husband, Anthony Renaldi, of Culberson, N.C., Lois M. and her husband, William King, of Mesa, Ariz.; three sons, Donald E. Gudbrandsen and his wife, Elaine, of High Spring, Fla., Robert E. Gudbrandsen of Farmington, and George D. Gudbrandsen of St. David; her sisters, Esther A. Bradeen of Milford, and Mary Elizabeth “Sue” Crone of Brookton; 12 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; seven great- great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Dorothy was predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Haakon, July 11, 1992; her daughter, Roberta Jean; her brothers, Shirley V., James E., Kenneth A. and Richard Percy; her sister, Ollie M. McLaughlin; her grandson, David B. Gudbrandsen; and her granddaughter, Kim A. (Renaldi) Farrington. Visiting hours will be held 4-6 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 31, at the Adams Funeral Home, 108 Court St., Farmington. Interment will take place at the Woodlawn Cemetery in Everett, Mass. at a later date.
