DIXMONT – Clifford E. Petersen, 63, died unexpectedly April 16, 2006, at a Pittsfield hospital. He was born Dec. 31, 1943, in New Haven, Conn., the son of Clifford E. and Miriam (Cudgma) Petersen Sr. He was a graduate of Amity High School, Woodbridge, Conn. Cliff was employed as an auto mechanic at auto dealerships in Connecticut for many years. He married Carol Kersten, July 17, 1965. He was an avid outdoorsman enjoying hunting, fishing, and watching the wildlife at his Dixmont home. He was a member of the National Rifle Association and the R. and G. Gun Club, Connecticut. For the past two years, Cliff had been a faithful volunteer worker at the Newport Community Food Bank. He was predeceased by his father, Clifford E. Petersen Sr. He is survived by his mother, Miriam Petersen of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; his wife of 42 years, Carol A. Petersen of Dixmont; two children, his son, Clifford E. Petersen III of West Haven, Conn., and his daughter and her husband, Joann and Bernard Godin of St. Petersburg, Fla.; his sister, Miriam Labbe of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; a sister-in-law, Paula Hoffman of Connecticut; five grandchildren, Donna Hamilton and her husband, Christopher, Joann Godin and her fiance, Josh, Crystal Godin and fiance, Doug, Bernard Godin and Billy Godin; one great-granddaughter, Trinity Hamilton; and a great-granddaughter due in July, Baby McKenzie; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He also will be remembered by many good friends and wonderful neighbors that he had a lot of good times with.
