CARIBOU – Clifford P. Plourde, 89, died Aug. 8, 2006, in Caribou, after a brief illness while listening to the music he loved the most, the harmonica. He was born July 26, 1917, in Caribou, the son of Alex and Odile (Castonguay) Plourde. He was a self-employed farmer in the local area for 46 years until his retirement. He was a member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church and was a 4th degree member of the Fred V. Brescia Council 1870 Knights of Columbus for 63 years. He was an avid fisherman and loved to pick fiddleheads and potatoes for the winter after his retirement. He also loved his music and his harmonica. Clifford was a devoted husband, father and grandfather to his family. He married Doris (Belanger) Plourde Jan. 17, 1944, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Surviving in addition to his wife of Caribou, are four sons and three daughters-in-law, Maynard and Marie Plourde of Caribou, Galen and Laura Plourde of Greenville, S.C., Arnold Plourde of Marietta, Ga. and Richard and Susan Plourde of Connor; five daughters and four sons-in-law, Janice and Harold Cote of Connor, Shirley and John Staski of Southington, Conn., Linda Lajoie of Connor, Larina and Wallace Fenlason of Bangor and Laurie and Scott Daniels of Plainville, Conn.; two brothers, Clarence Plourde and his wife, Julie, of Caribou and Emery Plourde and his wife, Jeri, of Bangor; four sisters, Leola Taylor, Dorothy Plourde, Bernice Plourde and Irene Lazure, all of Bradenton, Fla.; 15 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir St., Caribou. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 10, at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, with the Very Rev. Jean-Paul Labrie, pastor, officiating in a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will take place in the Sacred Heart Cemetery.
