HUDSON – Clifford William Shepard Jr., 57, went to be with the Lord June 22, 2008, surrounded by family after a short illness. Clifford was born Oct. 24, 1950, in Blue Hill, the son of Clifford Sr. and Georgena (Gross) Shepard. He grew up in both Stonington and Old Town, and graduated from Old Town High School. Clifford worked at the Pie Plate and Old Town Canoe. He worked and lived by the philosophy: if something needs to be done, just do it. Clifford was really just a jack-of-all-trades. He was a hard worker who lived a humble life devoted to his family. He was the love of his wife, Belinda’s life. His love of antique cars came only second to his love for lobstering, the coast and trapping. Clifford was predeceased by his father, Clifford W. Shepard Sr.; and his mother, Georgena (Gross) Shepard Young. He is survived by his loving wife, Belinda (Ward) Shepard of Hudson; and will be dearly missed by his stepfather, Veral Young of Old Town; children, Jennifer L. Emerson of Old Town, Jason W. Shepard of Greenbush, Jeremy M. Shepard and his significant other, Amy, of Old Town and Jeff W. Shepard and his significant other, Amber; stepson, Travis McClure and his wife, Kristy, of Hudson; grandchildren, Samantha and Jacob Emerson, and another grandson expected in October; sisters, Sharon Shepard and her companion, Bob Ayotte, Mary Ellen Campbell and her husband, Paul, Brenda Ellis and her husband, Richard, Robin Ross, Cynthia Jarvis and Patricia Shepard and her companion, Tom; sisters-in-law Cynthia Brackett and Dotty Gerrish and her significant other, Martin Douglas; brother-in-law, Michael King and his wife, Patty; special friends, Ken and Donna Jenkins, John and Paulette Ferland, Alton and Susan Hutchinson and Sonny Honnell; many dear friends and coworkers throughout the years at Old Town Canoe. Visiting hours will be held 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, June 25, at Birmingham Funeral Home, 438 Main St., Old Town. A celebration of Clifford’s life will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, June 26, at Hudson Baptist Church with the Rev. Garnet Chute officiating. Antique cars will lead the procession to Hudson Cemetery for interment after services. Arrangements entrusted to Birmingham Funeral Home. Notes of condolence or tributes may be left for Clifford’s family at www.mem.com.
