CLIVE E. ROLLINS REED PLANTATTION – Clive E. Rollins, 102, husband of Minnie (Brittain) Rollins, died May 9, 2004, at a Lincoln healthcare facility. He was born Dec. 20, 1901, in Reed Plt., the son of Frank and Harriet (Hewey) Rollins. Clive spent most of his life working in the woods near his hometown, including working with his sons. He served on Reed’s Board of Assessors for 51 years, spending two thirds of that time as first assessor. He also spent some time supervising some prison work crews during World War II, and spent some time working at Loring Air Force Base in Limestone. When he reached his 100th birthday, he received a plaque, honoring both his milestone birthday and his many years of service to Reed. He and Minnie made five cross-country trips visiting relatives over the years. They spent some time in Mexico. After he retired, they spent 13 winters in Florida, before returning to live full time in Maine. He and Minnie then ended up working for five years at Dale Wheaton’s camps on East Grand Lake. In addition to his wife, Minnie, he is survived by four daughters, Gloria Deering and Phyllis Keller, both of California, Mavis Greenwood of South Carolina, and Carolyn and her husband, Emile Caouette, of Connecticut; a daughter-in-law, Yvonne Rollins of Reed Plt.; a brother, Ray Rollins of Virginia; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by three sons, Gilbert, Carl and Clive. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Wytopitlock Baptist Church, with the Rev. Steve Waite officiating.
