BEALS ISLAND – Closson Franklin Alley Jr., 80, fell asleep in the Lord, Monday, July 23, 2007, surrounded by his family at his home. A lifelong resident of Beals, he was born there April 12, 1927, the son of the late Closson F. Alley Sr. and Euda (Crowley) Alley. Mr. Alley was a U.S. veteran serving in the Army during World War II being honorably discharged with the rank of private first class and served in Pisa, Italy, from 1945 through 1947. His name will be forever scripted on the World War II National Monument in Washington, D.C. After his discharge from the service, he graduated from Beals High School with the Class of 1947. Closson was an avid lifelong lobster fisherman, a member of the Advent Christian Church and a member of the American Legion Post No. 0178, Waterville. He shared 57 years of marriage with his lifelong companion, Addie Emerline (Norton) Alley. In addition to his wife, family members include a son, Harley Franklin Alley of Beals; two granddaughters, Maegan Alley of Addison and Hailey Peabody of Missouri; a sister, Amanda Octavia (Alley) Marcoux of Beals; a niece, Theresa Jean Leighton of Missouri; a nephew, Carl Franklin Alley of Lubec; a very special friend, Diana Kelley; a special thank you to Closson’s caretaker, Donna Reed, his close friends from fishing, the church and the community of Beals. He was predeceased by a niece, Dawn Euda (Marcoux) Mossler. Graveside services will be held 1 p.m. Friday, July 27, at Beals Cemetery, Beals, with the Rev. George Woodward and Pastor Phil Barton co-officiating. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited.
