BANGOR – Clyde E. “Bucky” Pelkey, 81, died Oct. 6, 2005, at his home surr-ounded by his loving family after a long struggle with diabetes. He was born March 23, 1924, the son of Peter J and Hazel (Gibbons) Pelkey. Clyde proudly served in the Pacific during War World II. After the war, he returned home to take over the family business of Pelkey Motor Transport. In 1981, he and his wife Elaine established Pelkey Oil Company where he remained active until his death. One of his greatest passions was his collection of antique trucks, one of which is on display at Cole’s Land Museum. Dad will be sadly missed by his loving children who will always remember him as a caring, compassionate person who loved to make people laugh. He loved being a grandfather and enjoyed the privilege of being godfather to Kori. Clyde is survived by his wife, Jean; daughter, Coralee and Wayne LeVasseur of Bangor; son, David and Barbara Pelkey of Bucksport; son, Steven Pelkey of Bangor; daughter, Corinne of Fairfield; son, Clyde and Judy Pelkey of Glenburn; daughter, Hazel and Jim Chick of Kenduskeag; sister, Virginia Simpson of Glenburn; 17 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and special niece, Karen. He was predeceased by wife, Nina, in 1955; his wife, Elaine, in 1995; his son, Peter, in 1983; and sisters, Bernice, in 1945 and Beatrice, in 2002. Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 8, and 4-6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 9, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 10, at St. John’s Catholic Church, York Street, Bangor, with the Very Rev. Richard McLaughlin, pastor, celebrant. Interment will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Bangor. Relatives and Friends are invited to share conversation and refreshments following the services Monday at St. John’s Catholic Church, Parish Hall, Bangor.
