BANGOR – Evelyn Crook Boulter died Oct. 5, 2005, at a Bangor healthcare facility at the age of 104. She was born Jan. 23, 1901, in Providence, R. I., the daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth (Leach) Crook, and was the youngest of eight children. She worked with her husband, the late Elvin Edward Boulter, owner of J.J. Boulter & Son for more than 50 years, retiring at the age of 80. Evelyn’s family was very important and special to her. She loved getting every one together for the holidays, and special family celebrations, and all the cooking she did was a labor of love. Some of her happiest hours were spent working in her flower gardens which she was able to do until she was 100. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 69 years, three brothers, and four sisters. Surviving are a son and a daughter-in-law, Arthur and Helen Boulter; a daughter and son-in-law, Helen and William MacDonald; six grandchildren, Robert MacDonald and his wife, Shirley, Thomas MacDonald and his wife, Joan, Karen Young and her husband, Duane, Dr. Joseph Boulter and his wife, Avis, David Boulter, and Jon Boulter; a special niece, Patricia Totman; 12 great-grandchildren, Joshua and David Thayer, Jennifer and JJ Boulter, Alexis and Bryan Boulter, Elizabeth and Andrew Boulter, Megan and Andrew MacDonald, and Katy and Sarah MacDonald. Funeral services will be private for the family on Saturday, Oct. 8, 2005, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, with the Rev. Randall Wilbur, pastor of Essex Street Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will be at Mount Hope Cemetery, Bangor. Gifts in her memory may be made to the Eastbrook Baptist Church, RFD No. 1, Franklin, ME 04634, or to the Essex Street Baptist Church, 82 Essex St., Bangor, ME 04401. The family greatly appreciates the loving care and concern given to Evelyn by the staff of Bangor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center during her stay.
