ETNA – Forrest Clifford Simpson Sr., 71, beloved husband of Nancy (Pierce) Simpson, passed away Oct. 5, 2005, at a Bangor hospital, after a long illness. He was born July 28, 1934, in Newburgh, the son of Ara and Julia (Larabee) Simpson. Forrest was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in the Korean War. During his lifetime he was an electrical lineman for the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers and worked throughout the United States. Forrest was a proud member of the Elks Lodge No. 244 of Bangor for 32 years as well as being a Life Member of the Elks. Forrest loved his Beagles and was a past president of the Eastern Maine Beagle Club. He lived in Etna since 1979, where he had served as a selectman for six years. Forrest enjoyed living in Etna and felt it was the best place in the world for him and his family to live. He was also a former Weeblo Scout Leader and liked being in the out of doors hunting, especially rabbit hunting with his Beagles. Forrest is survived by his wife of 40 years, Nancy of Etna; his children, Forrest C. Simpson Jr. “Tad” and his wife, Michelle, of Etna, Alan Simpson and his wife, Michelle, of Florida, Kenneth DeYoung and his wife, Mary, of Wisconsin, Vicki Howe of Massachusetts and Tina Simpson of Wisconsin; five grandchildren, Ian, Hunter, MacKenzie “Mac”, Sara and Sam; nieces, nephews, cousins and special family friends, whom Forrest thought of as daughters, Patti and Linda. Visiting hours will be held 4-7 p.m. Sunday, at the Hampden-Gilpatrick Funeral Home, 45 Western Avenue, Hampden. To honor Forrest’s wishes there will be no formal funeral services.
