HANCOCK – Clyde E. “Sonny” Norwood Jr., 66, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, May 13, 2004, at his home in Hancock. He was born April 10, 1938, in West Tremont, the son of Clyde E. and Gladys W. (Scott) Norwood Sr. He attended Trenton Schools and served in the U.S. Army for three years. After an honorable discharge from the Army, Clyde was an officer on the Ellsworth Police Department. He worked for the Bangor Daily News for a short time and then joined the Maine State Police Force. After 20 years, he retired as a respected Trooper in 1988. Clyde was a member of American Legion Post No. 207 in Trenton. He is survived by his mother, Gladys; and an aunt and foster mother, Charlotte Heddy Parker, both of Trenton; a special friend and companion, Amelia Morris of Hancock; three children, Kim Chisholm of Southwest Harbor, Mark Norwood Sr. of Trenton, and Scott Norwood of Hancock; three brothers, Robert Norwood of Bar Harbor, William Norwood of Ellsworth, and George Norwood of Franklin; two sisters, Carol Richardson of Ellsworth, and Patricia Dyer of Mississippi; six grandchildren, Leah, Kellye, Buddy and Johnny Norwood, and Thomas and Nathan Chisholm; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends are invited to visit with the family 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the Bragdon-Kelley-Campbell Funeral Home, 215 Main St., Ellsworth, where funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Monday, May 17. Interment will be at Woodbine Cemetery, Ellsworth. <>
