HOLDEN – Craig Gordon Johnson passed into another realm on Sept. 19, 2004. Craig was born Nov. 13, 1967, in Minneapolis, Minn., the son of Keith G. and Karen Beganny Johnson. Craig lived in Minneapolis until graduation from Washburn High in 1986. He was an accomplished athlete, and the goalie on the W.H.S. soccer team. He attended John Bapst in Bangor, briefly in the fall of 1984, and participated as their goalie in the first year of J.B.’s varsity soccer program. Craig attended Rhode Island School of Design and the University of Maine, where his drawing and painting skills were developed and led later to award-winning recognition. Craig had a great love of music, and enjoyed playing his electric guitar. He was known for his keen sense of humor, his powerful imagination, his incredible artistic skills, and his loyalty to friends and family. Craig’s life was a challenge due to his bipolar diagnosis, and was further complicated in 1993 by a serious head injury. Despite these problems, all who knew Craig loved him and his eclectic spirit. His caregivers at Acadia Hospital, including Janet, Sarah, Susan and Dr. Tisher, and his friend Linda McNeill at D.H.S. were very important to Craig and his family. He had the best friends in the world in Don and Randy Menninghaus, Kent and Dottie Palmer, and his sister, Susie. Craig is survived by his mother and stepfather, Karen Bryan Megathlin and Don of Cotuit, Mass.; his sister, Susannah Johnson, and her children, Reilly, Liam and Griffin, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Craig’s uplifting spirit, hope for a better world, and his creative antics, will be missed by those who knew him. A celebration of Craig’s life will be held 1 p.m. Oct. 10, 2004, at the Holden Congregational Church in Holden. A service of Brookings-Smith, Clark-Piper, Brewer.
