MILFORD, Mass. – Mr. Cyril B. Hechler, 79, formerly of Solon and Limestone, died Sept. 22, 2004, at Sunbridge of Milford, Mass. Beloved husband of the late June R. (Nichols) Hechler deceased June 1, 2002. He was born Dec. 22, 1924, in Limestone, the son of the late Frederick w. and Bridget “Jenny” (McLaughlin) Hechler. He was the loving father of four daughters, Rebecca J. Goyer of Bellingham, Mass., Kerry L. Meaney of Marlboro, Mass., Carolyn J. Hechler of Mendon, Mass., and Kathleen M. Hamilton of Millinocket; brother of LeRoy Heckler of Concord, N.H, Dorothy Browne of Augusta, and Florence Young of Limestone; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Mr. Hechler was a resident of Solon for 29 years, formerly of Bellingham, Mass., for 11 years and Limestone for many years. He was an insurance salesman for Boston Mutual Insurance for 10 years retiring in 1975. He also owned and operated City Service Gas Station in Limestone from 1953-1964. He was an avid fisherman. Mr. Hechler was a World War II Army veteran attaining the rank of Technician Fourth Class with Company E 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment. He served in the Battles at Normandy and Rhineland and received the Good Conduct Medal, American Theater Campaign Ribbon, and European African Middle Eastern Theater Victory Medal. Funeral will be held Tuesday with a Mass of Christian Burial 11 a.m. in St. Andrew’s Church, 20 St. Andrew St., Augusta. Relatives and friends invited to attend. There will be no visiting hours.
