BENEDICTA – Eugene R. Robinson, 81, died Sept. 23, 2004, at his daughter’s house in Levant with his family at his side. He was born May 10, 1923, in Houlton, the son of Richard and Marie (Cummings) Robinson. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during World War II. Gene worked as a wood contractor, a potato farmer and a highway foreman for the DOT, retiring in 1986. He enjoyed gardening, relaxing at camp and spending time with his family. He loved his town and it’s people. He graduated from Saint Benedicts High School. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Linnie (Humphrey) Robinson of Benedicta; 10 children, Barbara and her husband, Philip Joyce, of Hermon, Catherine Cyr of Benedicta, Joseph and his wife, June Robinson, of Benedicta, Susan Robinson of Portland, William and his wife, Lana Robinson, of Staceyville, Steve and his wife, Kim Robinson, of Benedicta, David and his wife, Peggy Robinson, of Sherman Mills, Lori and her husband, Michael Noyes, of Levant, Gayle and her husband, Russ Gray, of Northeast Harbor, Frederick and his wife, Amy Robinson, of Topsham; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, five siblings, Elizabeth and her husband, Edmund Beaulieu, of Cumberland Foreside, Patricia and her husband, James Guiggey, of Staceyville, Ethel and her husband, Olin Johnson, of Gorham, Mary “Shug” Maxwell of Gorham, Thomas and his wife, Margaret Robinson, of Newburgh; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his first wife, Barbara (McDonald) Robinson; one brother, Freeman “Tim” Robinson; and a son-in-law, Randy Cyr Sr. Friends may call 10-11 a.m. Saturday, at St. Benedict’s Catholic Church, Benedicta, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Saturday, with Fr. Richard Malo, celebrant. Interment will be in St. Benedict’s Cemetery. Arrangements by Bowers Funeral Home, Island Falls.
