LINCOLN – Dale F. Stanhope, 61, died March 3, 2005, at a Lincoln hospital. He was born Nov. 1, 1943, in Machias, the son of Gilbert J. and Lois T. (Johnson) Stanhope Sr. Dale was an Army veteran. He enjoyed woodworking and making things. He also liked hunting, fishing and gardening. He was a member of the Avon D. Flanders VFW Post No. 1438 of Lincoln. He is survived by his wife, Sharon Stanhope of Lincoln; six children, Susan Stanhope of Lincoln, Edgar Stanhope of Florida, Stacey Ramsey of Florida, Kathleen Trueworthy of Lincoln, Christian Stanhope of Chester and Cynthia Philbrook of Mattawamkeag; seven brothers and sisters, Annie Colby of Bar Harbor, Richard Stanhope of Machiasport, Katherine Lawrence of Machias, Louise Sinclair of Lincoln, Millard Stanhope of Jacksonville, Judy Spencer of Whitneyville and Beverly Elwell of Trenton; 13 grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers, Gilbert Stanhope Jr. and Arnold Stanhope Sr. Graveside services will be held in the spring at the Longfellow Cemetery in Machias, with Michael Thurlow officiating.
