HOLDEN – Daniel J. Ryan, Jr., 83, husband of the late Marion E. (Smyth) Ryan, died Jan. 20, 2004, at the Maine Veterans Home in Bangor. He was born March 23, 1920, in Millville, Mass., the son of Daniel J. and Mary E. (Barbrick) Ryan. Daniel was a US Navy veteran of World War II and served in the Navy for 20 years, serving in air squadrons on numerous vessels. He was stationed at Quonset Point Naval Air Station, N. Kingstown, R.I., and lived in E. Greenwich, R.I., until moving to Maine in 1974, where he was a resident of Holden. He worked as a quality assurance specialist for the defense contractor administration at GE in Bangor. Daniel was a member of St. Teresa Catholic Church, Brewer, and was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council No. 6728, Brewer. Surviving are five children, Gayle (Ryan) Bundy of N. Kingstown, R.I., Sheila M. Wilson of Johnston, R.I., Daniel J. Ryan III of Portland, John P. Ryan and his wife, Karen, of Brewer, and Lisa Veysey and her husband, David, of Eddington; eight grandchildren, Danny, Jamis, Joshua, Abigail, Matthew, Rhonda, Jenifer and Amanda; five great-grandchildren, Moya, Samantha, Robert, Nicholas and Vincent; one brother, John P. Ryan and his wife, Mary, of Millville, Mass.; uncles, cousins and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Margaret Ciepielowski. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Kiley Funeral Home, 69 State St., Brewer. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Friday at St. Teresa’s Catholic Church, Brewer, with the Rev. Joel R. Cyr, pastor, celebrant. Burial with military honors will be at Mount Hope Cemetery, Bangor.
