HAMPDEN and MILLINOCKET – Daniel Leonard Morneault, 43, passed away July 20, 2008, at a Bangor hospital, after a courageous battle with cancer. Dan was born Feb. 9, 1965, in Millinocket, to Remi and Rita (Gallant) Morneault. Dan attended grammar school in East Millinocket before moving to Hampden, where he graduated from Hampden Academy, Class of 1983. Dan began his long line of medical work in 1980 with the Hampden Ambulance. He worked for the Hampden Police Department, as a reserve officer and dispatcher while attending the University College of Bangor. He worked many years as an emergency medical technician for Medic Ambulance and Capital Ambulance. Dan was employed at Eastern Maine Medical Center, beginning as a transporter and in later years in the operating room, emergency room, Down-east Orthopedics and the New England Organ Bank. He was a communicant of St. Matthew Catholic Church, Hampden. Dan will be remembered in the local medical community as a faithful and devoted volunteer and employee, as well as a loving son, brother, uncle and friend. Dan is survived by his loving parents, Remi and Rita Morneault of Hampden; three sisters, Mary and Brent Nickerson, Teresa and Greg Howe, all of Bangor and Cathy and Aaron Adamo of Hampden; seven nieces and nephews, whom often referred to him as “Uncle Dan the Man,” Mark, Michelle and Hannah Nickerson, Jonathan, Catherine and Audrey Howe, all of Bangor and Abby Adamo of Hampden; a special aunt, Mae Gallant; special friends and caregivers, Nancy Raymond, Ann Feloney, Troy and Linda Lare, Penny and Ralph Spencer and many other special aunts, uncles, cousins and friends too numerous to mention. Dan was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Ted and Gert-rude Morneault; and his maternal grandparents, Alfred and Maude Gallant. Family and friends are invited to visit 5-8 p.m. Friday, July 25, at Hampden-Gilpatrick Funeral Home, 45 Western Ave., Hampden. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Saturday, July 26, at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 70 Western Ave., Hamp-den, with the Rev. Robert Vaillancourt, pastor, celebrant. Interment will be held immediately after the Mass at Lake-view Cemetery, Hampden. Those who wish may also join the family after the interment in the parish hall for a continued time of remembrance and refreshments.
