BUCKSPORT – I was born Feb. 27, 1931, Ethel May Allen, daughter of Ethel May and Frank Allen. My parents had 12 children and I was the 11th. Mansfield, Raymond, John, Kenneth, Eugene, Dorothy Werner and Mary Holmes are with the angels. Paul Allen and wife, Lillian, Margaret Wescott, and Carol Foss live here in Maine. I married Samuel J. Burgess Nov. 18, 1947. We had five beautiful children, Elizabeth Burgess and husband, Jeff Davis, Samuel Burgess Jr. and wife, Olivia, Deborah Miller and fianc?, Gary Escorsio, Susan Hooper and husband, David Hooper, and Cindy Burgess and friend, Mic Cronin. We were blessed with 14 grandchildren, Paul and Jennifer Doucette, Edward Burgess, Lucas, Nathan, Daniel and Patrick Miller, Katie Z-Brown and Michelle Millard, Jeremy Wellman, Melissa Pound, Sarah, Larry and Andrew Carter; four wonderful great-grandchildren, Alexia Sweet, Alexander Miller, Owen Z-Brown and Aaliyah Yard. Some of my many bless-ings were love from my family, singing, playing guitar, attend-ing church and swimming at our camp on Harriman Pond, family reunions, being the music director at St. Vincent de Paul Church, weekly card games and bowling with my sisters, cooking for my loved ones, and crocheting baby outfits. I love my family and believe in miracles. I know my family will miss me. I will be watching over them until they join me in heaven. Thank you Father O’Hara, Dr. Lieberman, Hospice of Eastern Maine, my family and everyone who pray-ed for me these past several years during my illness. My family and friends will gather for visitation 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, July 22, at Mitchell-Tweedie Funeral Home, 28 Elm St., Bucksport. A Mass of Christian burial for Ethel, who passed away July 20, 2008, will be celebrated 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Vincent de Paul Cath-olic Church, Franklin Street, Bucksport, with Father James Plourde, celebrant. A reception will be held immediately after the Mass at St. Vincent de Paul Parish Hall. Interment will be 1:30 p.m. at Mount Hope Cem-etery, State Street, Bangor.
