BANGOR – Daphne P. MacNevin, 90, died June 9, 2004, at her residence in Glenburn. She was born Feb. 6, 1914, in Brewer, the daughter of Ralph and Christine (Hewes) Arey. A caring and loving mother, grandmother, great-grand-mother and sister. Daphne was proud of her family and proud of the longevity traits in her family with most of her siblings living into their 90’s. ‘Nana,’ as she was affectionately known, enjoyed reading, television mysteries, playing cards, crocheting and she loved elephants. Surviving are six children, Vendall Josef Ugro of Minnesota, Geraldine Venanzi of Connecticut, Alvin MacNevin of Glenburn, Christine Smith of Carmel, Joan Lewis and Charles Ugro, both of Bangor; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; three sisters, Vernice Sucy, Eleanor Young and Evelyn Rist, all of Brewer. She was predeceased by one brother, Sidney Arey; five sisters, Frances Carnahan, Annie Sullivan, Marjorie Campbell, Cordelia Ranks and Edith Curtis. Friends may visit 7-9 p.m. Thursday at Kiley Funeral Home, 69 State St., Brewer, where a funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Friday with the Rev. Scott Cleveland, pastor of the Second Congregational Church, Brewer, officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Bangor.
