PRESQUE ISLE – Darla M. DeLong, 53, died Monday, March 26, 2007, at her residence. She was born April 16, 1953, in Houlton, the daughter of Russell and Leona (Porter) DeLong. Darla grew up in Bridgewater and was a graduate of Central Aroostook High School. She went onto further her education at Portland Gorham University majoring in education and history. She then taught school in Lincoln and later taught art in Thorndike. She also received a degree in art in 1989 from the University of Maine – Orono. She was a talented artist and especially loved working in her flower gardens. In addition to her mother of Bridgewater, she is survived by siblings, Dennis and his wife, Lee, of Athens, Ala., Jerome and his wife, Janice, of Littleton, Susan and Jill, both of Houston, Diane of Bridgewater, Ann of Winsted, Conn., Brian of Presque Isle and Julie of Monticello; sister-in-law, Paula DeLong of Blaine; Uncle Richard Jewell of St. Albans, Vt.; nephews, Mark, Lucas, Jonas, Russell and Carl DeLong; and nieces, Jessica DeLong, Christina Blackmon, Samantha and Karen Kusiak. She will also be remembered by a special friend of the family, Debbie McBreairty of Presque Isle. In addition to her father, Darla was predeceased by a sister, Karen; and brothers, Mark and Steven. There will be no services at this time. A private graveside service will be held at a later date at Smith Cemetery, Bridgewater. Arrangements in care of Duncan Funeral Home, 8 Main St., Mars Hill.
