ASHLAND – Darren Tyler Walls, 32, passed away peacefully Sept 5, 2007, at a Bangor hospital. He was born Oct. 13, 1975, in Bangor, the son of LeRoy Walls of Ashland and Delores (Sawyer) Walls of Bucksport. As a young boy, Darren was a fearless adventurer, content to ram the roads with his old man, eager to befriend any animal, tame or wild, with boundless energy he jumped head long into any new experience. At age 10, Darren was the victim of a nearly fatal accident. Though he was denied the use of his body, for more than two decades he used the strength of his will and spirit to bring out the best in all that were in his presence, all the while providing an example of courage and perseverance. In addition to his mother and father, he is survived by his stepmother and primary caregiver, Opal Walls of Ashland; siblings, Sherri Watson and partner, Michael Veazie of Blue Hill, Daniel Veazie and wife, Kelly, of Ashland, Katrina Walls and partner, Alex Wilbur, of Garland, Marcia Simmons and husband, Edward, of Readfield, Janet Frake of Winthrop, Lisa Walls of Bucksport, Dennis Walls and wife, Kimberly, of Brewer; and special nephews, Dylan and Levi. Details regarding a graveside service Sept. 16, at Otter Creek will be published at a later date.
