OLD ORCHARD BEACH -David Irving Simpson died unexpectedly at his home, April 15, 2005. He was born March 8, 1950, in Bangor, a son of Sumner and Dolores Fournier Simpson. He was educated and reared in Bangor, graduating from Bangor High School in 1968. He later obtained a bachelor’s degree from Brenau College. He joined the Marines at eighteen and was a veteran of Vietnam and the Persian Gulf Wars. Throughout his career he received many honors and medals. He retired from the Army as a CID officer in 1995. He was deeply loved and will be remembered always. He was predeceased by his father and a sister, Catherine Simpson. Survivors include his mother, Cynthia Simpson; and their three children; Heather Lynne (23), Hilary Leigh (19) and Stephen David (17); a granddaughter, Skylar Lily. A private ceremony will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that a donation be made to their local animal shelter. Arrangements are under the supervision of the Old Orchard Beach Funeral Home.
