CLEARWATER, Fla. – David Jackson Longden, 93, died Friday, Nov. 7, 2003, at Palm Garden of Clearwater in Clearwater, Fla. He was born in Watertown, Mass., the son of the late Joseph and Fannie (Jackson) Longden. He moved to Palm Harbor, Fla., from Framingham, Mass., in 1983. He was the husband of 45 years of the late Helen Rebecca (Winship) Longden, who recently died Oct. 28, 2003. Mr. Longden was a retired material handler for the Polaroid Corp. in Waltham, Mass. He was also a retired Sergeant in the Massachusetts National Guard, 25th Yankee Division in Boston, Mass., and served for 20 years. He also served active duty in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1943-1945. He was a member of the American Legion, Saxonville Post No. 256 of Framingham, Mass., former chairman of Cub Scouts of America Pack No. 1 in Allston, Mass., and was a charter member and former commander of the Nobscot V.F.W. Post No. 10313 in Framingham. Survivors include four sons, Jon M. Bowdoin of New Port Richey, Fla., Leon A. Bowdoin Jr. of Somerset, Mass., David J. Longden Jr. of Framingham, Mass, and Thomas W. Longden of Spring Hill, Fla.; two daughters, Linda M. Cogliano of Wareham, Mass., and Ruth E. Balboni of Somerset, Mass; 16 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 13, in the Stott, Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 2599 Cranberry Hwy., (Rte. 28), Wareham, Mass. Burial will follow in the V.A. Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, Mass. Visiting hours are from 10-11 a.m. at the funeral home.
