SOLDOTNA, Alaska – Dean Jordan Mitchell, 58, the son of the late Don O. and Pearl Tozier Mitchell of Merrill, died of natural causes in Soldotna, Alaska, on June 10, 2004. After graduating from Oakfield High School, Dean served with the U.S. Army in Vietnam. He later attended Ricker College and the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. He was employed by the U.S. Postal Service delivering rural mail in the Smyrna Mills-Oakfield area, for a number of years. He was a self employed lumber man before moving to Alaska in 1995. Dean was predeceased by his mother; father; three sisters; and four brothers. He is survived by brothers, Roger and his wife, Joyce, of Westbrook, Phillip and his wife, Susan, of Fairfax, Va., Stephen of Lisbon Falls, and Eric and his wife, Dana, of Markleton, Pa.; and sisters, Virginia Bell and husband, Larry, of Hernando, Miss., and Leah and her husband, Albert, of Oakfield. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, July 8, at the Bethel Pentecostal Church, Oakfield, where funeral services will be held 11 a.m. with the Rev. Larry Bell, brother-in-law, officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 343 Gorham Road, South Portland, ME 04106.
