NEWPORT and HERMON – Diane E. Villard, 51, passed away peacefully on Dec. 17, 2003, at her home surrounded by her loving family, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was born April 30, 1952, in Bangor, the daughter of Marion and George Burgess, and the late Donald F. Villard. Diane attended St. Mary’s, John Bapst High School, and was a graduate of Bangor High School. She resided in Pennsylvania for several years, before returning to Maine. She was an active member of the Calvary Church in Orrington, ENCORE, the Breast Cancer Support Group at the YWCA, and participated in Relay For Life, and the Race For the Cure. She is survived by her mother and step-father; three sisters and one brother, Donna Darcangelo and her husband, Vince of Hermitage, Pa., and their son, Vince II of Boulder, Colo.; Charles Villard and his daughter, Kristin, both of Bangor, and son, Charles II of San Jose, Calif.; Mary-Ann Bouchard and partner, Goldie Perkins, and her sons, Nickolas, all of Bucksport, and Eddie Smith of Carmel; Jo-Ann Brown and her husband, Glenn, and their children, Jessica and Donald, all of Palmyra; special sister-in-law, Kathy Villard of San Jose, Calif.; special brother-in-law, Ron Bouchard of Hampden; special cats, Fluffy and Scruffy; and many special friends and family. She was predeceased by her father, Donald F. Villard, who died at the age of 32. Visiting hours will be held 6-8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 20, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, where funeral services will be held 12 noon Sunday, Dec. 21. The family invites friends and relatives to share conversation and refreshments at the Brookings-Smith Family Center, 163 Center St., immediately following the services. The family request that no flowers be sent. Those who wish may contribute in memory of Diane to her family to be used in accordance with their wishes. The family wishes to thank the Cancer Care Unit at Eastern Maine Medical Center and the Breast Cancer Support Group at the YWCA for all their care, kindness and support.
