TENANTS HARBOR – Dolores R. Knowlton, 69, died Sunday, Feb. 19, 2006, at her home after a long illness. Born Sept. 18, 1936, in Rockland, a daughter of Floyd and Bernice Proctor Reams. Educated in Rockland schools, she was a 1955 graduate of Rockland High School. At that time, she was employed with Central Maine Power Company and later at Maine National Bank in Rockland. She married William J. Knowlton June 10, 1956, in Rockland. The couple made their first home in Rockland and later moved to Thomaston. In 1969, they moved to Tenants Harbor where they have since resided. Mrs. Knowlton was a devoted homemaker and mother and since 1969, assisted her husband in the operation of Bill Knowlton Well Drilling. From 1977-1989, with her family, she enjoyed vacations traveling to California, Texas and often to Florida. Since 1983, the Knowlton’s have wintered in the Orlando, Fla. area. Mrs. Knowlton’s favorite place to be was at the family’s West Lake cottage in Township 3, Northern Division. She also enjoyed many crafts and keeping the genealogy of her family. In addition to her husband of 50 years, Mrs. Knowlton is survived by two sons, Charles “Chip” Knowlton, William “Billy” J. Knowlton II and his fiance, Kaley Porter; one daughter, Angela Lynn Knowlton and her significant other, Corey Jameson; five grandchildren, Desirae Jameson, Sierra Jameson, Brianna Knowlton, Domonick Jameson, Jacob Knowlton, all of Tenants Harbor; as well as her mother-in-law, Isabelle Knowlton Jillson of Rockville and Sarasota, Fla. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 24, at Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock St., Rockland. The Rev. Wayne Sawyer will officiate.
