MACHIAS – Donald “Donnie” E. Vane, 72, son of the late Winthrop and Vera Vane, died at his home, Thursday, Aug. 9, 2007. Donnie graduated from Machias High School, Class of 1952. He went on to serve in the U.S. Army. He devoted nearly 40 years of his life to the A&P Tea Donnie was a member of both the VFW and the American Legion. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Alma; a daughter, Kathlyn Beal and husband, Craig, of Friendship; a son, Donald Vane and special friend, Bobbi Jo Wheelock, of Meddybemps; loving grandchildren, Amissa Demmons, Donald and Adriano Vane, Kendra and Leighton Beal; great-granddaughter, Jazmin Carver; and a dear sister, Dorothy Hatch and husband, Karlton, of Machias. He was predeceased by his brother, Kenneth Vane. Donnie will be sadly missed by his family and friends. The family would like to extend an invitation to friends to share in a time of memories at an open house 1-3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 12, at the home of Donnie and Alma, Upper Court Street.
