MAPLETON – Donald Jesse Whitt, 74, died Saturday, Nov. 6, 2004, at a Mars Hill health-care facility. He was born Sept. 8, 1930, at Swords Creek, Va. the son of Jesse and Una Whitt. He served in the U.S. Air Force 1950-1953. Donald was retired from Penobscot Frozen Foods, where he was a boiler operator for 13 years. He loved hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family and friends at Squa Pan Lake. He is survived by his wife, Rowena (Howlett) Whitt of Mapleton; a daughter, Rebeca Whitt Brown and her husband, Conrad of Westfield; a granddaughter, Amy Brown Proctor and her husband, Matthew; a great-grandson, Elias Proctor; and two stepgrandsons, Callahan and Cody Proctor, all of Westbrook, Conn.; two brothers, Willard Whitt and his wife, Laura, of Swords Creek, Va., Thomas Whitt and his wife, Carol, of Cadillac, Mich.; a special cousin, Doyle Whitt and his wife, Norma, of Swords Creek, Va.; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Ralph and Dean Whitt. At Don’s request there will be no calling hours. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday at Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, 30 Church St., Presque Isle, with the Rev. Kevin Kierstead officiating. Interment will be at Fairmount Cemetery. Donations may be in memory of Don to the charity of one’s choice.
