PERHAM – Donald W. Skidgel, 77, died March 6, 2007, at his son’s Caribou residence after a long illness. He was born Nov. 3, 1929, in Woodland, the son of Bert and Annie (Green) Skidgel. Don was employed by several area lumber companies and was also a self-employed lumberman for many years. He was always a kind and gentle person who was loved and respected by all who knew him. Don loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was an avid outdoorsman who truly enjoyed hunting and fishing. He is survived by one son, Byron Skidgel and his wife, Susan, of Caribou; two daughters, Bonnie Gillen and Ed Clark of Washburn and Barbara Bragg and her husband, Winston, of Washburn; two sisters, Alice Connor of Dexter and Marilyn Wardwell of Caribou; his friend and longtime companion, Ina Cyr of Perham; his mother-in-law, Gwen Grant of Canaan; a brother-in-law, Calvin Grant and his wife, Elaine, of Fairfield; seven grandchildren, 10 great-grand-children, many nieces and nephews. Mr. Skidgel was predeceased by his wife, Phyllis (Grant) Skidgel in 1986; and two brothers, Benjamin and Obadiah. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Thursday at Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir St., Caribou. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Friday, March 9, from the chapel of the Mockler Funeral Home with the Rev. Kenneth Fox officiating. Interment will be in Woodland Cemetery.
