HANCOCK – Donna Lee Greene, “Stella,” 60, died at sunrise Aug. 5, 2008, surrounded by her loving family after a courageous battle with ovarian cancer, at her home. She was born Aug. 6, 1947, in Bennington, Vt., the daughter of Donald E. and Elizabeth M. (Hurd) Greene. She was “The Cleaning Witch,” founder of My Fork In The Road Cafe and numerous other ventures. Above all, she was our mom, our granny and our friend. She was so much to so many. She lived a full 60 years. She is survived by her mother; the father of her children and lifetime friend, Edwin King; sons, Jeffrey and companion, Gloria Fox, of Ellsworth, Matthew of Bangor, Heath and wife, Jennifer, of Ellsworth and Ethan and wife, Rosie, of Georgia; daughters, Rebecca and partner, Al Sebile, of North Carolina, and Amy Henderson and husband, Eben, of Ellsworth; sister, Patty Greene of Vermont; brothers, Peter, Gary, Tony and David, all of Vermont and Sam of New York; grandchildren, Dustin Littlefield, Michaela, Hunter, Elijah, Tanner and Emily King and Matthew DeBeck; goddaughter, Valedah Higgins; granddogs, Gunner, Schoodic, Murphy and Boss; and her cat, Maggie. Donna was predeceased by her father; brother, Donald “Gibby” Greene; and sister, Susan Smead. Special thanks to Debbie Scappaticci and all the volunteers at hospice. Special thanks also to Bunny and mom’s many friends for their gentle care and kindness. A celebration of her life will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 9, at Faith Community Fellowship Church, 1420 Bar Harbor Road, Ellsworth. In lieu of flowers, mom would want you to commit random acts of kindness.
