BANGOR – Donna M. Rogers, 60, aunt, god-mother, sister, friend, hard working lady and loving wife to the late Nate Rogers, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Dec. 31, 2005, at a Brewer healthcare center, after a courageous struggle with cancer. She was born Jan. 15, 1945, in Bangor, the daughter of Edwin M. and Hazel E. (Lord) Wilson. Donna attended Bangor schools graduating from Bangor High School and was a lifelong resident of Bangor. She was a dedicated and loyal employee of the Bangor Daily News for seven years and had formerly worked for the Viner Music Company. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church, Bangor, where she served with the Prayer Loft Group. She enjoyed her membership with the Daffodil Society, her service as a bell ringer for the Salvation Army and her service as an election warden with the City of Bangor. As a good and faithful servant of the Lord, Donna served her community and was a loving caregiver to many children. She truly believed in what she did and did what she believed. She was a very loving person who gave of herself to help others. She is survived by seven brothers and sisters, Robert Wilson and his wife, Eleanor, of Ellington, Conn., Glenn Wilson and his wife, Trudy, of Bangor, Jennie Roberts of Bangor, Gloria Vigue and her husband, Jerry, of Standish, Beverly Wilson of Bangor, Edwin Wilson II and his wife, Kelly, of Bangor and Weymouth Wilson and his wife, Patricia, of Orrington; many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband in 1997; two sisters, Geraldine in 1994 and Margaret in 1998; and a brother, Lawrence in 2002. Donna will be dearly remembered by special friends, V. Page Chaloult, Linda Thomas, Bette Hoxie and her neighbor, Noreen. Her family wishes to thank the staff of Brewer Rehab. & Living Center for the wonderful and loving care they provided. They wish to thank the Bangor Daily News for their continuous support during her illness. They also wish to thank her two sisters, Beverly and Jennie for their medical expertise. Friends may visit 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Monday, at Kiley Funeral Home, 69 State St., Brewer. A service celebrating Donna’s life will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 3, at the First United Methodist Church, Essex Street, Bangor, with the Rev. Dr. Randall Chretien, pastor, presiding. Burial will be at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Bangor. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make memorial contributions to the Rogers Memorial Fund, care of First United Methodist Church, 703 Essex St., Bangor, ME 04401 to support international children’s missions.
