VAN BUREN – Doris “Dot” R. McGrath, 81, died Feb. 9, 2008, at a Van Buren nursing home after an extended illness. Dottie passed away with her family and the caring staff at Borderview by her side. She was born Aug. 21, 1926. She resided in Allagash for several years, graduating from Allagash High School and Fort Kent Normal School. She lived in Fort Fairfield for a number of years and was a resident of Borderview for the past 11 years. She will be deeply and fondly remembered for her compassion, strength and ability to help others. Dot was very devoted to her children, was honest and hardworking, and also had a creative side to her. She served on various boards and committees affiliated with Aroostook Mental Health Center and seemed to always place the needs of others ahead of her own. Dot is survived by her daughter, Susan McGrath-Nelson and her husband, Roger, of Gillette, Wyo.; one son, Jeffrey McGrath and Kathy of Foxboro, Mass.; and two grandsons, Hunter James Craig and John Zabroski. Relatives and friends may call noon Wednesday until the time of service at Ouellette-Thibault Funeral Home, 118 High St., Van Buren. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with Father David Cote officiating.
