HOWLAND – Doris Margaret Watkins Walker, 99, passed on peacefully Wednesday, March 22, 2006, at Cummings Healthcare Facility in Howland. Born Feb. 8, 1907, in Rockland, she was the daughter of Raymond and Maud Pray Smith. Doris spent the majority of her 99 years in the Rockland area. She had many stories of her childhood and the changing times. She especially enjoyed her yard and the wildlife that occasionally visited. Doris was predeceased by two husbands, Harry Watkins and George Walker Sr.; her son, Raymond Watkins; and her daughter, Mary June Ireland. Survivors include six grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren. Rev. Rick Duplisea will conduct a graveside service 1 p.m. Friday, June 16, at Achorn Cemetery, Rockland. Arrangements are in the care of Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock St., Rockland.
