WINSLOW – Doris Mary Hissom, 77, of Monument Street, died Jan. 7, 2008, at her residence after a long illness. She was born Oct. 12, 1930, in Stockholm, the only child of Peter and Ida Bowley. She was predeceased by her parents; and her best companion, Joseph N.L. Godin. She leaves behind her two best friends, Sylvio and Micheline Sylvain, and several cousins. Doris loved life and her hobbies were crocheting, knitting and playing Beano. She also enjoyed her little puppy, “Butter Cup.” At her request, there will be no visiting hours. Funeral services will be at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Houlton, in the spring. Burial will be held after at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery. Memorial donations in her memory may be made to Humane Society Waterville, Area, 100 Webb Road, Waterville, ME 04901 or the Alzheimer’s Association, Maine Chapter, 170 U.S. Route 1, Suite 250, Falmouth, ME 04105.
