WAYNE L. GRENDELL HOULTON – Wayne L. Grendell, 78, passed away peacefully Jan. 7, 2008, surrounded by his family at his residence, after a brief battle with cancer. He was born May 5, 1929, in Presque Isle, the son of Samuel W. and Esther (Porter) Grendell. After graduating from high school, Wayne went to work for Dunn Furniture Co., until being called to serve in the U.S. Army from October 1951 to 1953. Upon returning home, Wayne went back to work with Dunn’s, filling such positions as carpet mechanic, delivery driver, repairman and finally, retiring as shipping manager in 1986. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Marilyn (Vose) Grendell; his daughters, Ella Frawley and her husband, William, of Jackman and Anne Brennan and her husband, Shawn, of Scarbough; his grandson, Luis Frawley; one brother, Dana Grendell and his wife, Jocelyn, of Alaska; two sisters, Ruth Holmes and her husband, Gerald, of Houlton and Phyllis Bruns and her husband, Marvin, of California; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife, Theresa (Plourde) Grendell; his son, Allan Wayne Grendell; his sister, Janice G. Toothaker; and his brother, Richard Grendell. At Wayne’s request, there will be no calling hours. Graveside services will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in the spring.
