DOVER-FOXCROFT – Dorothy B. Beede, 93, beloved wife of the late Philip L. Beede, died May 11, 2006, at a local nursing home. She was born Sept. 1, 1912, in Caribou, the daughter of Charles Freeman and Mabel (Kilcollins) Beek. A graduate of Newport High School, she had worked for Farm Security in Caribou before moving to Dover-Foxcroft, where she had worked as a bookkeeper at Rowell’s Garage and Cushing Coal. Mrs. Beede retired as Deputy Registrar of Deeds of Piscataquis County after many years of service. A devoted wife and mother, her special passion was her beloved family. She was an avid bridge player and a proud charter member of the Junior Cosmopolitan Club. She is survived by a daughter, Barbara Moore and her husband, Robert, of Dover-Foxcroft; three grandchildren, Peter Chase and his wife, Roxanne, of Dover-Foxcroft, Skip Chase and his wife, Letha, of Cologne, Minn., and Kimberly Cavanagh and her husband, Scott, of Mayer, Minn.; six great-grandchildren, Joshua, Lindsay, Isaac, Samuel, Timothy Chase, and Noah Cavanagh; several nieces and a nephew. She was especially close to her niece, Linda Boyd and husband, Bruce, along with their children, Molly and Julie of Bangor. She will be fondly remembered by many neighbors at Thayer Parkway and numerous friends and bridge partners through the Dover-Foxcroft area. She was predeceased by a daughter, Natalie in 1936; and four sisters, Villa Bruce, Hilma Newton, Phyllis Waterman, and Freda Piper. Friends are invited to call 6-8 p.m. Sunday, May 14, at the Lary Funeral Home, Dover-Foxcroft, where funeral services will be conducted 10 a.m. Monday, May 15, with her grandson, Skip Chase, officiating. Burial will follow in the family lot in Evergreen Cemetery, Caribou.
