WESTFIELD – Dorothy C. Lamson, 88, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Wednesday, May 16, 2007, at the Mars Hill nursing home. She was born Oct. 11, 1918, in Mars Hill, the daughter of Edward and Charlotte “Lottie” (Reese) Cheney. Dorothy spent many wonderful years growing up with her brothers and sisters on their farm on the Kearney Road, Mars Hill. She married Eugene Lamson, Nov. 25, 1943, and they resided in Westfield for their entire married life. Dorothy developed her life long work ethic at an early age as a housekeeper at the Grass farm while she attended high school. She worked with her husband on their farm in Westfield and at the Grange Store, Presque Isle. She cleaned house for several years for various families, was employed at Vahlsing in Easton, and served as assistant dietician at The Aroostook Medical Center, until her retirement in 1990. She was a member of the Westfield Calvary Baptist Church, Mars Hill; Blaine Senior Citizens Club; and Golden Girls. She previously served as president of the Westfield Extension and volunteered for many years with the American Cancer Society annual fund drive. Dorothy was a wonderful friend to all who knew her. She enjoyed life and always had a strong belief in God and a positive and wonderful attitude. She was an inspiration to all who knew her, in particular during the past year as she battled cancer. She loved going out and spending time with her family and friends. She spent the last six and one half years of her life at Northland Park, Presque Isle; and greatly enjoyed her many friends there, including her very special and dear friends the “Domino Girls;” Gwen McEntee, Evelyn Holder, Gloria Hill, and Gerry Brewer. She is survived by her daughter and best friend, Vicki (Lamson) Smith and husband, George “Sandy” Smith, of Westfield; a very dear baby sister and best friend, Ruth James of Chapman; a very special nephew and his wife, Wayne and Marilyn Wheeler; a very special great-niece, Tammy Wheeler, all of Presque Isle; nine grandchildren and spouses, Wanda and Keith Joslyn, Ronnie and Robin Brewer, all of Blaine, Peggy and Rick Billings of Westfield, Marilyn Burtt and friend, Herm Taylor, of Mars Hill, Jackie and Bob Hebert, Esther and Joseph Voisine, Debbie and Bob Valle and Anita Briggs and fianc?e Joe, all of New of Bristol, Conn., and Jason Lamson of West Chester, Ohio; 19 great-grandchildren, and 19 great-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews; three almost daughters, Maxine Maynard, Mary Sweeney, and Marguerite Lawler; many friends, including some very special friends at Westfield Calvary Baptist Church and Northland Park, Presque Isle. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 53 years, Eugene Lamson; sister and best friend, Winnie Wheeler; three brothers Donis, Ralph “Bud” and Vaughn Cheney; three stepchildren, John “Jack” Lamson, Joan (Lamson) Gardner, and Marilyn (Lamson) Brewer; a grandson, John “Johnny” Lamson of Bristol, Conn.; and a sister-in-law, Emma Perry and her husband, Ralph. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, May 19, at Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, 30 Church St., Presque Isle, with the Rev. Larry Palmer and Rev. Lawrence Beals, presiding. Friends are invited to call 1 p.m. until time of service. Burial will be at Marshall Cemetery, Westfield.
