DOROTHY ‘DOT’ ANN VANCHOUGH JACKSON – Dorothy “Dot” Ann VanChough, 69, passed away Thursday, Dec. 8, 2005, at her home. She was born Jan. 18,1936, in Ellsworth. Dot loved the ocean and watching the sailboats in the harbor at Camden-Rockport. She also enjoyed eating at Dockside restaurant. She loved gardening, especially her flowers, loved to dance and listen to music. Dot took care of her friends and neighbors all her life; she came from a family of 13 kids who scattered into different homes only to find themselves as adults. Dorothy was predeceased by her loving husband, Vern VanChough; a sister, Alice Rollins; and brother, Art Foss. She is survived by a son, Robert VanChough and wife, Sheila; grandson, Robb VanChough; four brothers, Ray Foss and Vinal Foss of Ellsworth, Don Foss of Georgia and Phillip Maddocks of Rumford; four sisters, Elva Gurney of Orono, Margaret Murphy of Brooklyn, N.Y., Josephine Maddocks and Ramona Carter of Old Town; two cousins, Jen Evans and Stewart Reed; special nieces and nephews, William Bud Rollins, Rae Lynn, Sandy Jean, Andy Foss; and her very loving friends, Tom Seymour, Sheldon and Mary McCormick, Dot and Ralph Magoon, Sherry and Roger Littlefield, Gladys and Gaylon Kennedy and Hamilton and Andrea Richards. The family would like to thank all the people of Brooks and Jackson for everything you have done for her. There will be a memorial service 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 13, at First Congregational Church, in Brooks. In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations to be sent to the Waldo County Home Health and Hospice, P.O. Box 407, Belfast, ME 04915.
