DEER ISLE – Dorothy E. Carter, 74, died Friday, March 4, 2005, at a Bangor hospital. She was born Oct. 13, 1930, in Deer Isle, the daughter of Parker and Helen (Beam) Eaton. Dorothy was a member of the Community of Christ Church in North Deer Isle. She enjoyed knitting, and donated many afghans, scarves, socks and mittens to her family, friends, and community fund raisers. Dorothy is survived by a son, Wallace P. Carter and his wife, Diana, of Warren, Pennsylvania; two brothers, Samuel Eaton and his wife, Virginia, of Deer Isle, and Parker Eaton Jr.; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Graveside services will be held in the springtime at the Reach Cemetery, North Deer Isle. Gifts in memory of Dorothy may be sent to Hospice of Hancock County, 14 Mackenzie Ave., Ellsworth, ME 04605; or to the St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, P.O. Box 50, Memphis, TN 38101. Cremation arrangements are by Bragdon-Kelley-Campbell Funeral Home, Stonington.
