PRESQUE ISLE – Dorothy K. Skillin, 80, died Nov. 13, 2006, at a Caribou hospital. She was born Dec. 19, 1925, in Presque Isle, the daughter of Allen L. and Evelyn (Munson) Kelley. Dorothy was a graduate of Presque Isle High School, Class of 1943. On June 3, 1947, she married Emery L. Skillin, also of Presque Isle. After graduation from high school, she was employed for a period of 15 years by the Maine Department of Agriculture, Production and Marketing Administration. Retiring from this position, she remained at home in order to help rear their two children, a daughter and a son. In 1966, she returned to the work force, employed by S.A.D. No. 1, as secretary to the principal at Cunningham Middle School, retiring a second time in 1985. Dorothy was a member of the Grant Memorial United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women. She had previously been a member of the Presque Isle Young Professionals, a business women’s organization, and the American Legion Auxiliary. Dorothy is survived by her husband, Emery L. Skillin of Presque Isle; a son, Todd E. Skillin of Portland; a daughter, Carole and her husband, Steven L. Doody, of Caribou; two grandsons, Matthew L. Doody of Albany, N.Y., and Aaron L. Doody of Canton, N.Y.; one brother, Allen W. Kelley of Venice, Fla., and Little Madawaska Lake; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Merritt (Phyllis) Leavitt of Presque Isle. In addition to her parents, Dorothy was predeceased by a brother, Darrol Kelley; and a sister-in-law, Dorothy (Parsons) Kelley. Relatives and friends may call 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, 30 Church St., Presque Isle. A celebration of her life will be held 1 p.m. Thursday at Grant Memorial United Methodist Church, 79 Fleetwood St., with the Rev. David Williams officiating.
