SPRUCE PINE, N.C. – Mrs. Dorothy Nora Miller, 88, formerly of Old Town, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2006, in the Brian Center. She was the daughter of the late Walter and Almira Pearly McDade and the wife of the late Lawrence E. Miller, who died in 1986. Dorothy cherished and loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by her daughter, Joan Hutchinson and husband, Lawrence, of Spruce Pine, N.C.; sons, Walter Miller Sr. of Milford and Lawrence Miller Jr. and wife, Beverly, of Old Town; grandchildren, Marva Hambacher, Leane Woody and husband, Timothy, Amy Hutchinson, Megan Miller, Walter Miller Jr. and Cory Miller; and great-grandchildren, Molly and Lila Woody and Nathanial Attix. She was predeceased by her son, Dale Miller, March, 1960. A memorial service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Dorothy N. Miller will be held 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 27, at the Spruce Pine United Methodist Church with the Rev. Lynda Briggs officiating. The family will receive friends after the service at the church. A memorial service will also be held in Milford, at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Spruce Pine United Methodist Church Building Fund, 11090 Hwy 226 South, Spruce Pine, NC 28777. Webb Funeral Home is assisting the Miller family.
