FARMINGDALE – Dorothy (Turner) Murray, daughter to Harvey and Helen (Trask) Turner and wife of the late Horace Murray Jr., passed away April 22, 2007, surrounded by her family at Maine General Medical Center, Augusta. Dorothy was born Oct. 10, 1923, in Alna. She lived most of her life in Gardiner, where she graduated high school and raised her family. Dorothy was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, who enjoyed gardening and spending time with her children and grandchildren. During World War II, she helped to construct Liberty Ships at the South Portland Shipbuilding Corporation. She also worked for state government and Commonwealth Shoe Co., Gardiner. Dorothy was predeceased by her parents, Harvey and Helen (Trask) Turner; and her husband, Horace Murray Jr. She is survived by her son, Daniel G. Murray and wife, Elaine, of Belgrade; daughter, Jane Dill and husband, Jim, of Old Town; daughter, Dawn Mealey and husband, David, of Farmingdale; nine grandchildren, Daniel M. Murray, Candace Murray and Emily Murray, all of Belgrade, Griffin Dill and Mallory Dill, both of Old Town, Jeremy Dill of Portland, Casey Mealey and Bethany Mealey, both of Farmingdale and David D. Mealey of Glenburn. Dorothy was also the proud great-grandmother of the boy, Trenton Murray of Belgrade and Waterville; two special cousins, Betty-Anne Mauzy of Lewiston and Elizabeth Bonneau of Leominster, Mass. Dorothy’s smile, sense of humor and warming presence will all be missed. We wish her soul well in its next great triumph. Visiting hours will be held 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, April 25, at Staple’s Funeral Home, 53 Brunswick Ave., Gardiner, where funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday.
