SEDGWICK – Dorothy Varnum, passed away peacefully Nov. 24, 2004, at home at the age of 86. She was born in Sedgwick, Nov. 18, 1918, the daughter of Frederick and Margie (Grindle) Orcutt. Dorothy was a 55-year member of the Sedgwick and North Blue Hill Granges. She organized and served many baked bean suppers for Sedgwick Grange and the Sedgwick Fire Department. Her hobbies included knitting and crocheting. She crocheted many afghans for family, friends and for fund raisers for Sedgwick and Blue Hill Fire Departments. She was a life long resident of Sedgwick. Dorothy is survived by two sons, Donald and his wife, Sheila, Royce and his wife, Margery; three grandchildren, Randall Varnum and his wife, Lauri, Lori and her husband, Richard Parenteau, and Cody Varnum and his wife, Molly; four great-grandchildren, Victoria, Amanda, Alexander and LeeAnn; a niece, Betty and her husband, Vaughn and their children, Elizabeth and Kathy. She was predeceased by her husband, Gray; a sister, Letha and a half-sister, Marion. Visiting hours will be held from 6-8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 26, 2004, at Jordan-Fernald, 141 South St., Blue Hill, where funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 27, 2004. Interment will be at Rural Cemetery, Sedgwick. Contributions in Dorothy’s memory may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
